Server 2012 PID restart

Aug 9, 2013 at 11:41 AM
Hi All,

I have had problem getting this to work in server 2012.

I created a service account to run Teamspeak under.
I ran the installer and set that username and password, but when I started the service the Teamspeak3.exe would be in a restart loop (seen by the PID changing all the time)

I don't know what is causing this but I fixed it just setting the service to run as system and allowing interact with the desktop to be set. Yes this is a dirty fix but it seems to work.

Is there anything in the event log?
I'm guessing that the user is not having enough rights to either start the process or to monitor a process using it's PID.

"Interact with the desktop" should not be neccessary, because there is no desktop interaction.

Hi Scordo,

I'm pretty sure that it will be that the user didn't have rights to run services.
I'll be honest I didn't trouble shoot it properly. I went for the quick and dirty fix to get it running.

I really just wanted to document the way to get it working in case anyone else saw the same behavior.

ok ;)

The User must have a lot permissions to run and monitor a process.
So just let it run in a power users context (LocalSyste, Admin, ..).
But you know, an admin would send you to hell for it! :-D
